My daughter and her family are enjoying their vacation. They started it by going to experience the Niagara Falls. My son-in-law posted a picture of the falls on FaceBook with this caption, “WOW!”

That would also be a great caption for a picture of what it is like to have unlimited access to the Creator of the universe. The Bible says, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Wow, you mean that we can boldly” approach the throne of our God who speaks things into existence? We sure can but not because we’re paying customers or voting citizens who have a right to demand some right. We have the “wow” of answered prayer because God in his mercy has chosen to open the door of heaven to us _ to hear our prayers _ to listen to our requests _ then to give us exactly what we need. In one way or another, all of us have been touched by God. Maybe it’s been a miracle or an intervention in our lives. We prayed, and God helped us through this or that situation.

Yes, it’s definitely a wow moment when God answers our prayers and does great things for us but that’s just the half of it. What He is really after is a personal encounter _ a one-on-one relationship _ a deep, abiding, genuine, intimate relationship. When God works in our lives it’s not just so we can have “warm fuzzies” or a photo op moment_ it’s so we can go on our way rejoicing _ proclaiming the greatness, the “WOWNESS” of Almighty God.
