I know people who won’t get involved because they believe they aren’t talented enough or smart enough or rich enough. Others think that they aren’t good enough or old enough or young enough _ the list of excuses is endless. They’re waiting until everything is perfect before they step up and get involved in the work of the church. In God’s scheme of things it doesn’t work that way.
In Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life, he points out that God has always used imperfect people to serve His purpose. For instance: Abraham was old, Jacob was insecure and a conniver, Leah was unattractive, Joseph was abused, Moses stuttered, Gideon was poor, Samson was codependent, Rahab was immoral, David had an affair and it led to all kinds of family problems, Elijah was afraid, Jeremiah was depressed, Jonah was reluctant, Naomi was a widow, John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least, Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered, Martha worried a lot, the Samaritan woman had several failed marriages, Zacchaeus was unpopular, Thomas had doubts, Paul had poor health, Timothy was timid.
That appears to be quite a variety of misfits, but God used every single one of them in a great way. The point is regardless of our limitations God will use us just like he used people that we read about in the Bible. So church, stop making excuses and get after it _ don’t let your limitations stand in the way of living a God-honoring life.
