The gospel message is simple: Jesus came to planet earth, lived among us, died on the cross, was buried, arose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and is coming again. That is how Jesus went about the task of saving a messy world.
Almost everyone can recite John 3:16. I think that verse is loved because of the promise of eternal life. But when you throw in John 3:17 there is something else to consider and it’s more than what we get out of the deal that God offers… “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
OK Church, here’s a question for you: Are you more apt to condemn a messy, sin-driven world or bring to light God’s gracious gift of salvation through Jesus? If you picked the latter, and I hope you did, then what is your part in the process? Simple, it’s proclaiming the gospel. Or as Jesus put it: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19=20)
There’s a song with this line: Jesus is the answer for the world today _ above Him there’s no other _ Jesus is the way. There you have it _ everything that we say and do as a church needs to have Jesus right smack dab in the middle. And by the way church it takes every single one of us proclaiming that message in whatever we do to make it happen as effectively as it can be done.Yes we live in a messy, sin-driven world but there is an answer for changing that _Jesus.
