Those that are bent on stopping all change and refusing to be a part should not be allowed to sidetrack the body of Christ. Suggestion: Find a ministry for them so they can feel a part of all this. Plug them into a ministry where they can use their Spiritual Gift. When a church is small and struggling you can’t afford to lose anyone. However, sad to say, in most struggling churches where there is new life, new methods and change, it seems inevitable that a few leave to find a church where they are feel more comfortable. Make every effort to love and care for these people. Explanation, prayer, careful communication and becoming a part of an enjoyable ministry often help. BUT, sometimes it doesn’t and after being so careful, they still leave, *Some leave and come back later.

Voting out leadership many be necessary, but only as a a last resort. First, every effort must be made to correct the problem and build each other up.

Pessimism is contagious, a destroyer, a tool of the devil and the opposite of faith. Optimism is also contagious and is an expression of faith.

Give methods a fair opportunity to reach their goal. (Six months to a year.) Then re-evaluate. Try things with the idea that its an experiment.

“Soaking the Beans” – this is presenting a new idea or challenge then talking about it, discuss it and dream about it for a while before you actuallly do it. WARNING – don’t soak them too long or they will rot. (A guidline for most things would be one month minimum to two or three months maximum.)
