We are seriously seeking responses to this blog site. What do you think of it? What do you like? What would you like to see added?  What don’t you like? It’s easy, just go to the word COMMENTS under this post and click on it. Thank you for taking the time. It will surely be a blessing to us.

We are getting the most “hits” on Elder’s Devotions. There are now 14 devotions in the category Elders. Because of the interest we will be adding more on a regular basis.

Elder’s Devotions 14

Devotional Focus:

Psalm 20:7 -9

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. 9 O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call!

Remember that victory comes from the Lord! Moses – Joshua – Samson – Gideon – David – Paul – Not trusting in horses, chariots, armor or ingenuity.

How do we get the Lord to give us Victory? What do we tend to trust in instead of God? How can we be most sensitive to the Lord’s leading?

Prayer:

Response to the way the Holy Spirit led our devotions tonight; (discuss thoughts first before praying)

I just began reading the book of Joshua again yesterday and today. That powerful message: – “Be strong and of good courage.” God worked it out so the people accepted Joshua’s leadership as they had accepted Moses. They knew that he was being led by God.

Are we being led by God today as church leaders? And do our people know that we are being led by God? Joshua did what God requested and that brought this result, this following of his leadership and confidence that he was being led by God. What can we do to make sure that happens with our leadership? May I suggest.

1. That we determine to follow His Word like Joshua did.

2. That we continually ask God to lead us.

3. That we ask for the leadership of His Holy Spirit.

4. That seek for our faith to be as strong as those Hebrews 11 people.

5. That we are strong and of good courage.

6. That we teach, preach and live the truth in love.

7. It would probably help if we spent more time in His Word and in prayer.

8. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

When I enter a new post, it always goes to the top of the page. So, when I entered those 10 Elders Devotions they went up front. However, in the future they can be accessed in the Category, ELDERS. I am getting a lot of hits for meeting devotions, so I will be entering more from week to week.

I encourage you church leaders to search around in the A Categories Directory and see all that is available. Entering new stuff every week.

Preachers, tell your elders about this site. Elders, tell your preacher.

Elder’s Devotions 9

Devotional focus:

Paul’s Charge to Timothy – II Timothy 3:10 – 4:8

10 But you know from watching me that I am not that kind of person. You know what I believe and the way I live and what I want. You know my faith in Christ and how I have suffered. You know my love for you, and my patience. 11 You know how many troubles I have had as a result of my preaching the Good News. You know about all that was done to me while I was visiting in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, but the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and those who decide to please Christ Jesus by living godly lives will suffer at the hands of those who hate him. 13 In fact, evil men and false teachers will become worse and worse, deceiving many, they themselves having been deceived by Satan. 14 But you must keep on believing the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know that you can trust those of us who have taught you. 15 You know how, when you were a small child, you were taught the holy Scriptures; and it is these that make you wise to accept God’s salvation by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. 17 It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone

2 Timothy 4

1 And so I solemnly urge you before God and before Christ Jesus—who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom—2 to preach the Word of God urgently at all times, whenever you get the chance, in season and out, when it is convenient and when it is not. Correct and rebuke your people when they need it, encourage them to do right, and all the time be feeding them patiently with God’s Word.

3 For there is going to come a time when people won’t listen to the truth but will go around looking for teachers who will tell them just what they want to hear. 4 They won’t listen to what the Bible says but will blindly follow their own misguided ideas. 5 Stand steady, and don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Bring others to Christ. Leave nothing undone that you ought to do. 6 I say this because I won’t be around to help you very much longer. My time has almost run out. Very soon now I will be on my way to heaven. 7 I have fought long and hard for my Lord, and through it all I have kept true to him. And now the time has come for me to stop fighting and rest. 8 In heaven a crown is waiting for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And not just to me but to all those whose lives show that they are eagerly looking forward to his coming back again.

I. The foundation must stay in place as we venture into new challenges.
II. The importance of our Mission Statement.
III. Our Vision only accelerates our purpose.

Prayer Time:

Calling out to God for direction, wisdom, faith, vision, to open and close doors. His purposes. His way!
